Aut viam inveniam aut faciam

There's one Finnish alternative band that I could listen to on and on and I'm naturally speaking of Lasten Hautausmaa whom were performing here last Saturday to our delight. The gig was one of the best I have seen from them and I sensed the other people agree with me. I've seen the band many times and they have always been spectacular. I don't listen to much Finnish music, but there are a few bands which have stolen my heart for good.
Two gig weekends in a row and there is coming many interesting events this year. I know I can't attend them all which is pity. Myrkur was performing in Helsinki last weekend and that would have been very welcome too. I hope I get a chance to see her in the future.
One classy outfit from the previous week. I have been wearing high heels indoors at home just for practicing for the summer! I like winter especially now when there is a lot of snow, but unconsciously I'm dreaming of the spring and it's been quite vernal weather off and on. Birds have sung and even the sun gleamed through the clouds.
Shoes: Second hand Minna Parikka, Shirt and skirt: Flea market, Necklace: from WGT
I'll travel to my folks on Friday to see my brother's prom. I can't believe that fourteen years have passed since my prom! It sounds awful because it feels that my prom was yesterday.... However I have a chance to admire dresses. I guess the fashion has changed a little bit since I was dancing. I had black velvet corset top without bones and long dark wine red taffeta skirt and black tulle on it. The dress was nice and I could wear it these days too except that I have gained over ten kilos and it's too small nowadays (I was really skinny as a teen). The dress is still in a store at my folks. I would share a pic, but I have none.

Dance D'Amour

I've had really nice weekend although everything feels surrealistic due to the changes (at work) which are coming.  On Friday night I was tired, but I went to see Helsinki Vampires despite everything. I have been nowhere during January so it was nice to get out although the next day was a workday. My boyfriend continued the evening till the light signal with his friends and  band members (they know each others behind the years), but I needed to head for sleeping. Unfortunately. I liked the gig and it's always a pleasure to see them.

In addition I've been reading Edgar Allan Poe after a long time. I have a few pieces on my own bookshelf and I return to them from time to time. Gloomy stories what else a man needs?
An outfit from Thursday. An old shirt, self made skirt and second hand belt.

A short post, but my mind wanders on its own level right now. ;)

The Cure

A few words about the Cure concert which was about a week ago in Helsinki. Finally I got a chance to see my favorite band or should I say listen to their live show because we had quite a poor view from the back seats. This of course flattened a bit the atmosphere because I'm that  visual person that I always want to see what's going on on the stage and now we only saw that there is some people on the stage.. even those screens were fairly poor or the cameramen showed all the time the same view. I would have wanted the tickets to the floor, but even if I tried to be quick they managed to go. However the show was something once in a lifetime to me who has loved their music since I was a teen and dreamed for so many years that I could breath the same air with Robert...  The band played a lot of their pop songs which didn't surprise me at all, but fortunately they played also some my faves like: Forest, Lovesong, Burn and Disintegration. Though I like more their songs which involve melancholy and minor chords also those more happier pop songs worked fine. Robert's voice was still fresh even if the man has some years behind him. By the way my boyfriend saw the Cure already when they visited Finland the last time in the year 1996! I'm a bit  jealous to him about that experience. But I was nine-years-old those days and I wasn't even aware of the whole group.
Albeit I'm not the best friend with arena shows the event will be one immemorial experience in my life.

Granny vibes

Today I did it and bought a granny hat which has been on my invisible shopping list for long. These are so nice looking although grannies wear them at least in Finland.
I had today a day off so I have been in the gym and taking photos. I desperately need that new lens, but I'm still pondering between the different types. I'm so bad at making decisions and one good offer already passed by me.

Tomorrow I'm off to Helsinki because of the Cure! I've been waiting for this a lot. The Cure is absolutely my favorite band and I have not seen them before.

Lumous Gothic Festival: Saturday

On Saturday I headed to Dark Market where I spent only for a quick moment because I wanted to go say hello to my sweetie who was suffering from a flu at home. Here is a picture how I looked a daytime until it was a time to put on something more macabre for the club ;D The weather was sunny for once which was nice.
Dress: Second hand: Shoes: From Germany, Bag: Flea market, Necklace: From WGT

The music lines of the night was good: Naevus, Two Witches and Aesthetic Perfection. Only Naevus was new to me. Every goth in Finland knows Two Witches and I had chance to see Aesthetic Perfection already in Germany earlier this year, but it was even better here at the club which was more intimate as the huge Agra hall.
Two Witches
Aesthetic Perfection
All bands sounded good and my night was successful. Greetings for you all who came to say hello to me over the weekend!

After Saturday there was a one night left when I went to End club which was a highlight of the whole event. A shame for those who didn't attend. I don't have pictures from there because photography was out of bound for a reason that people were dancing on the tables without their clothes....  Great weekend, great people, great parties!

Lumous Gothic Festival: Friday

Well hello! Still alive after all merrymaking and sleepless nights and all I can say that it is the spectacular weekend behind me. Lumous Gothic Festival is a local and biggest goth event in Finland which takes its place at Tampere in July. For me it's a great thing that it's arranged here so I don't need to travel for it to attend. It's a city festival which means that here is a bunch of different happenings around the city.

Here is a few shots I took during the Friday. I didn't take pictures about the people which is a bit shame. My focus was on drinking this time and besides the weather was too dark on Friday that even my outfit pictures were almost all stripey. Someone asked me recently is it always this rainy in Finland and I would like to answer yes; sometimes this country reminds me of Mordor.

I was a lazy once again and didn't sew anything new for Lumous although I had some ideas drifting in my mind. But on the other hand the closet is filled with nice garments so why to sew more? I was about to put on the long skirt on Friday, but because it was so wet ground I ended up wearing this costume. ( I didn't count how many comments I received while walking through the city those horns on me "oh there goes a satan!" )
On Friday there was playing Swedish Canis Lupus which was delicious and wanted option among those industrial bands. I like industrial, but I appreciate always more traditional music.
Corset: Diy, Skirt: From London, Shoes: Pennangalan, Bag: Flea market, Necklace: Ebay, Horns: Diy, Tights: Lindex
Shiv-r was the new band to me. I managed to listen to them a bit before the gig so the songs were a little bit familiar and it was a positive surprise. I enjoyed their show.
Thanks Niina for the outfit pictures!

This Monday will be long. I have a workday this evening and I was celebrating till the light signal last night, but the End club was so good that I didn't have a heart to go home earlier.

Lumous Opening Club

Wohoo it's here again: Lumous gothic festival and I was off already today which means that I was able to start celebrating yesterday when the event officially started. I headed for the opening club where was playing: Sortaja, Unzyme and Submission. I was surprised by the amount of people who were arrived in the club; it was however Thursday.

Here is the outfit which I chose to wear. It was so difficult to decide what to put on, but I ended up wearing the corset from Lip Service which is comfy and I haven't worn it for ages. Those shoes are also wonderful and I was nearly forgotten their existence. A bag is new one which I found in the flea market a week ago.

Sonja Sinivuori Sirkus @ Kännikalafestarit

Some black and white pictures that I took on Saturday while visiting a local event where was playing a few local bands.

I love to take black and white live pictures especially if the venue is less professional including a bad lighting and not so nice background. In addition the visual look of a band affects a lot. Usually black and white pictures work always, but colors not necessary.  From my personal view the black and white live pictures work better to my eyes as color ones although of course also color can sometimes be even more effect as the shades of gray. However here are the shots about Sonja Sinivuori Sirkus.

Wave gotik treffen: Velvet Acid Christ, Aesthetic perfection

This will be the last post of Wave Gotik Treffen, I promise ;) The last day before leaving back for home included a few good gigs and Finnish meet-up. In the morning after sleeping a few  hours we dressed up and I visited taking hotel's breakfast as I did everyday. We went to shop to a railway station which was situated  a stone's throw to get to our hotel. I found a few lovely shoes and some make-up which I had already bought once before during our journey. I didn't shop that much that I did a year ago. Mostly I admired all handmade items and gathered an inspiration. At WGT you can find such a many cool handmade items and I especially like them.

My outfit contained also something handmade. The horns which I wore nearly everyday and the collar. The dress is from Queen of Darkness and it felt very good choice for the last day when I wanted to wear something which look good, but feels casual.
By the way our hotel was situated in the downtown which is the best location while attending WGT. It was almost a skyscraper including 27 floors. Our room was on the floor 17 and from there it was a nice view through the window over the city.
We went to Moritzbastei which was the new place to me and what a labyrinth that place was, but quite nice. There was arranged a small Finnish meet-up which was the reason to go there. It was nice to hear other's experiences from the WGT and Leipzig over the beer. After that we decided to visit shortly Medieval village before going to Agra. Day's gigs were Velvet Acid Christ which I waited a lot and Aesthetic Perfection. Both were absolutely good.

Wave Gotik Treffen: Darkhaus, Diary of Dreams, Lacrimosa, PiL

Sunday the third day at Wave Gotik treffen was chilly, windy, sunny and rainy and I managed to get wet when some random cloud reached us unexpectedly. . The rain lasted only for a few minutes until the cloud hastened over and the sun appeared back. The weather was quite bad and annoying not at all warm and nice like it was a year ago.  People said that it's never been this cold before at WGT like it was this year. People was wearing their overcoats so their beautiful costumes didn't show so I ended up leaving my camera to the hotel and didn't take any pictures of the other's costumes. I wore my self made pvc dream dress which I also wore the last year at Lumous.
 A few pictures from Agra.

We decided to take a tram and travel to Agra once again where was performing Diary of Dreams and Public Image Ltd which I definitely wanted to see! For real, I saw Johnny Rotten, a living legend of punk! Both gigs were good. In addition we checked Lacrimosa which was boring and Darkhaus. We returned back to hotel somewhere around 3 am. I probably slept only five hours until it was a time to start the last day.
